Forty years ago Led Zeppelin stopped flying
UK/IT version – December 4, 1980. “…have led us to decide that we could not continue as we were.”, was the ending of the brief statement with which the ‘greatest rock band in the world’ ended its career exactly 40 years ago.
On September 24, 1980 John Bonham while being taken to rehearsals asks to stop for breakfast, orders a pint of vodka. In the studio he drinks another quart.
In the evening the drummer is taken to his room, where the following afternoon he will be found dead by John Paul Jones.
It took more than two months for the group to understand that nothing would ever be the same again.

4 dicembre 1980. “…ci hanno portato a decidere che non potevamo continuare come eravamo.“, fu il finale dello stringato comunicato con il quale la ‘più grande rock band del mondo’ pose fine alla propria carriera, esattamente 40 anni fa.
Il 24 settembre del 1980 John Bonham mentre viene portato alle prove chiede di fermarsi per fare colazione, ordina mezzo litro di vodka. In studio ne beve un altro litro.
Alla sera il batterista viene portato nella sua stanza, dove il pomeriggio del giorno successivo verrà trovato morto da John Paul Jones.
Servirono più di due mesi al gruppo per comprendere che niente sarebbe stato più come prima.
