Chris Jagger, Mick’s younger brother, tells about himself in the new album and in his biography presented at Tondo Music in Maroggia, Switzerland
UK/IT Version – Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger‘s younger brother, veteran singer/songwriter Chris Jagger, released a new studio album called Mixing Up the Medicine made during the lockdown, and also published a memoir titled Talking to Myself the same day.
Mick has contributed some backing vocals to Chris’ album, which features several songs that the younger Jagger wrote with his frequent collaborator Charlie Hart, a multi-instrumentalist who also has played with late Faces bassist Ronnie Lane. On the disc there is also the hand of producer John Porter, who worked with the Smiths, BB King and Elvis Costello.
Mixing Up the Medicine also features three songs with lyrics taken from poems by an obscure 19th-century poet named Thomas Beddoes that Chris set to music.
Among the other musicians featured on the album are one-time Who touring percussionist Jody Linscott and drummer Dylan Howe, son of Yes guitarist Steve Howe.
In the book, Chris delves in to his life story, including his childhood with older brother Mick, the siblings’ mutual appreciation of the blues, his own musical adventures and his travels around the world.
Talking to Myself is the first autobiography from a member of the Jagger family, but Chris says that while he was working on it, he encouraged Mick to write his own.
“I said to Mick, ‘I’ve almost finished my book, now let’s do yours’ and he laughed,” Chris reveals. “He’d do a fantastic book.”
Reflecting on his experience writing the memoir, Chris notes that “writing can be quite prosaic and descriptive. It doesn’t have to be all poetry. I have even included some recipes in my book too.”

Il fratello minore del frontman dei Rolling Stones Mick Jagger, il veterano cantautore Chris Jagger, ha rilasciato un nuovo album in studio chiamato Mixing Up the Medicine registrato durante il lockdown e ha pubblicato anche un libro di memorie intitolato Talking to Myself. Mick ha contribuito con alcuni cori all’album di Chris, che contiene diverse canzoni che il giovane Jagger ha scritto con il suo collaboratore Charlie Hart, un polistrumentista che ha anche suonato con il defunto bassista dei Faces Ronnie Lane. Nel disco c’è anche lo zampino del produttore John Porter, già al fianco degli Smiths, BB King e Elvis Costello.
Mixing Up the Medicine include anche tre canzoni con testi tratti da poesie di un oscuro poeta del 19° secolo di nome Thomas Beddoes che Chris ha messo in musica.
Tra gli altri musicisti presenti nell’album ci sono l’ex percussionista degli Who Jody Linscott e il batterista Dylan Howe, figlio del chitarrista degli Yes Steve Howe.
Nel libro, Chris approfondisce la storia della sua vita, compresa la sua infanzia con il fratello maggiore Mick, l’apprezzamento reciproco dei fratelli per il blues, le sue avventure musicali e i suoi viaggi in giro per il mondo.
Talking to Myself é la prima autobiografia di un membro della famiglia Jagger, ma Chris dice che mentre ci stava lavorando, ha incoraggiato Mick a scriverne una sua.
“Ho detto a Mick, ‘Ho quasi finito il mio libro, ora facciamo il tuo’ e lui si è messo a ridere”, rivela Chris. “Farebbe un libro fantastico.”
Riflettendo sulla sua esperienza nella stesura della biografia, Chris osserva che “la scrittura può risultare piuttosto prosaica e descrittiva. Non sempre poetica. Ho anche incluso alcune ricette nel mio libro”.
