Once upon a time there was the Lamone Open Air

UK/IT Version – ONCE UPON A TIME THERE WAS LAMONE OPEN AIR
My friend Claudio asked me to write something in this beautiful “zone” dedicated to Rock, about the legendary open air of Lamone.
Many years have passed and the memories are beginning to fade …but the heartstrings still vibrate, thinking back to those wonderful old times.
They vibrate like the memory of the sound of those old electric guitars.
Yes, even we in Ticino had an open air worthy of the highest consideration.
Let’s go back, then, and we are in the late 80s.

Those were the days of long hair, leather jackets, a lot of time spent in the rehearsal rooms …which I used to frequent as a spectator.
I loved this world, made of music and dreams. I adored and still adore Rock, an inexhaustible source of energy and the soundtrack of my life.
Someone had the fantastic idea of setting up an open air, which I think has remained in the hearts of all of us who have lived through that era.
As mentioned before, we were in Lamone.

I remember a large lawn, a stage …spotlights …sound checks …and the great commitment of the people involved, who were working hard to offer something exciting and exclusive.
I remember the audience …many young people anxiously waiting to see the musicians at work.
I remember many bands, some better known and others less so, but all with the same light in their eyes …the enthusiasm to get on that stage and give their best.
The event was a great success and has been repeated for a few years.
I feel lucky to have been able to live those moments, those emotions, typical of those years.
I believe that the Open Air of Lamone has really left a mark in the hearts of those who lived it, but not only because we were young, but because it was something exclusive that has united even more all of us young Rock lovers.

Besides all this, the event had the role of an important launching pad for some local musicians who then became famous, in time, even outside Ticino and Switzerland.
It’s nice to remember and I think it’s right to pass on this treasure from the past to our youth of today.
Music unites, it is powerful, it reaches every soul.
Music gives joy, grit, strength and hope…it’s life!!!

Torniamo indietro, dunque, e siamo a fine anni ’80.
Come detto prima, ci troviamo a Lamone.
