Johnny Cash: his the most beautiful love letter ever

IT/UK Version – A love letter written by Johnny Cash to his wife June Carter Cash was voted the most beautiful of all time.

The missive dates back to 1994 on the occasion of June’s 65th birthday and is a concentrate of the love that the singer felt for his wife. The two married in 1968 and have been together for over 30 years. June passed away in 2003 and a few months later Johnny passed away too.

Happy Birthday Princess,
We get old and get used to each other. We think alike. We read each others [sic] minds. We know what the other wants without asking. Sometimes we irritate each other a little bit. Maybe sometimes take each other for granted.
But once in awhile, like today, I meditate on it and realize how lucky I am to share my life with the greatest woman I ever met. You still fascinate and inspire me. You influence me for the better. You’re the object of my desire, the #1 Earthly reason for my existence. I love you very much. Happy Birthday Princess. – John

La missiva risale al 1994 in occasione del 65esimo compleanno di June ed è un concentrato dell’amore che il cantante provava per sua moglie. I due si sono sposati nel 1968 e sono rimasti insieme oltre 30 anni. June è morta nel 2003 e qualche mese dopo anche Johnny è passato a miglior vita.

“Buon compleanno principessa, ormai siamo vecchi e ci siamo abituati l’uno all’altra. La pensiamo nello stesso modo. Leggiamo la mente dell’altro. Sappiamo quello che l’altro vuole anche senza dirlo. A volte ci irritiamo anche un po’. Forse a volte ci diamo anche per scontati. Ma ogni tanto, come oggi, medito su questo e mi rendo conto di quanto sono fortunato a condividere la vita con la più grande donna che abbia mai incontrato. Continui ad affascinarmi e ad ispirarmi. La tua influenza mi rende migliore. Sei l’oggetto del mio desiderio, la prima ragione della mia esistenza. Ti amo tantissimo. Buon compleanno principessa, John”.
