Kiss Confirm New Years’ Eve Show World Record
UK/IT version – Kiss confirmed that last night’s Kiss 2020 Goodbye New Year’s Eve show had set two world records, while verification was pending on a third.
The band had previously announced their intention to secure mentions in the annual Guinness World Records reference book for their pyrotechnics at the event in Dubai. They also hoped to set a record for the highest-grossing pay-per-view event for a rock concert.
One of the GWR adjudicators who’d attended as a witness spoke on camera once the performance was complete, reporting that Kiss had set records for the highest flame projection in a music concert – at 35 metres – and the most flame projections launched simultaneously in a music concert.
Kiss censored a few subtle elements of their performance in respect of the strict laws in the United Arab Emirates. Gene Simmons’ traditional blood-spitting routine was absent, while the lyrics to two songs were adjusted: the phrase “virgin soul” became “sacred soul” in “God of Thunder” while “bitch” was deleted from “100,000 Years”. According to legislation addressing language that “disgraces the honor or the modesty” of an individual, each transgression comes with a fine of $2,700 or a jail sentence.

I Kiss hanno confermato che lo spettacolo Kiss 2020 Goodbye New Year’s Eve ha stabilito due record mondiali ed è in attesa della verifica di un terzo.
La band aveva precedentemente annunciato l’intenzione di assicurarsi l’ingresso nel libro dei Guinness World Records per il loro show pirotecnico a Dubai. Sperano anche di stabilire il record per l’evento pay-per-view con il maggior incasso per un concerto rock.
Uno dei giudici del GWR che ha assistito come testimone ha parlato davanti alla telecamera una volta completata la performance, riferendo che i Kiss avevano stabilito il record per la fiamma più alta – 35 metri – e il maggior numero di colonne di fuoco lanciate simultaneamente in un concerto musicale.
I Kiss hanno censurato alcuni elementi della loro performance nel rispetto delle rigide leggi negli Emirati Arabi. La tradizionale routine di sputare sangue di Gene Simmons era assente, mentre i testi di due canzoni sono stati adattati: in “God of Thunder” la frase “virgin soul” è diventata “sacred soul” mentre la parola “bitch” è stata eliminata da “100.000 Years”. Secondo la legislazione degli Emirati Arabi il linguaggio che “disonora l’onore o la modestia” di un individuo comporta una multa di $ 2.700 o una pena detentiva.
