FROM MOURNING … THE BLACK COVER FOR THE DISAPPEARANCE OF BON SCOTT CREATES THE MILESTONE OF AC/ DC; IT WAS 25 JULY 1980

UK/IT version – Grown-up and after 6 albums finally established as popularity with the success of Highway to Hell (1979), they left for France and the United Kingdom for the dates of their last tour.
On the night of February 18, 1980, singer Bon Scott went to the Music Machine (Live Club in London), where he unfortunately took part in binge drinking. The excesses and colossal drinking left him no way out: he will die the next day from alcohol poisoning.

The loss of Bon Scott devastated the band, who, at first, decided to end their musical career there. Friends and family spurred them to continue, also because there were several tracks, various auditions, and proofs already recorded in the drawers for a future album.

After the funeral, Malcolm Young recruited Brian Johnson, singer of a glam rock group called Geordie. After several auditions, he was officially declared as the new lead singer of AC/DC.

Back in Black came out on July 25, 1980, with many uncertainties and as Angus Young, himself stated: everyone was very nervous about the commercial performance and how the critics and fans would receive it.

The success was unprecedented, with around 50 million copies sold in the world. Thanks to the 25 million copies distributed in the United States of America alone, Back in Black became the second best-selling album of all time, after Michael Jackson’s Thriller.
It occupies number 77 of the 500 Best Albums in Rolling Stone magazine; further, AC / DC have also been part of Cleveland’s prestigious Rock’n’roll Hall of fame since 2003.

Blow the 40 candles and …Happy Birthday “Black in Black” you will always be an evergreen for everyone
